Army Continuing Education System (ACES), through its many programs, promotes lifelong learning opportunities and sharpens the competitive edge of Army 2010 and beyond. ACES is committed to excellence in service, innovation and deployability. In addition, ACES has been providing quality education support for over 50 years to soldiers and their family members.

The Fort McPherson Education Center has been helping assigned servicemembers and family members reach their education goals in the Fort McPherson and Fort Gillem military communities for more than 45 years. The counseling, testing and Army Learning Center section staffs bring years of experience and expertise.

On Fort McPherson, the Education Center is located in Building 60, Room 106. The Education Center offers many services to military members and their family members in the community, including:

The Education Center’s counseling staff offers individual and group education counseling to servicemembers and their families, as well as educating veterans about their education benefits and how and where to apply for those benefits.

The Education Center staff issues tuition assistance (TA) forms to most active duty and mobilized enlisted Soldiers. All Soldiers must contact the Education Center staff prior to registering with an institution. Army National Guard personnel should the education services officer at 678-569-5302 or 678-569-5303 in Ellenwood.

Army Reservists in Georgia not on active duty should contact the 81st RRC at 1-877-749-9063, ext 1741. Air Force personnel should contact Robins Air Force Base at DSN 497-7303; Navy personnel should contact Kings Bay at DSN 573-4527; Marine Corps personnel should contact Camp Lejeune, N.C. at DSN 573-4527 for assistance in obtaining tuition assistance. Army TA currently pays 100 percent of the tuition cost, up to $250 per semester hour or up to $750 per three-semester-hour course with a $4500 fiscal year cap.

Family members can obtain information regarding sources of financial aid to help pay for vocational technical programs, college and university classes.

Saint Leo University, Central Michigan University, Georgia Military College and Clayton State University provide residence and distance education classes. Georgia Military College offers Associate’s degrees. Saint Leo University and Clayton State offers 2-year and 4-year degree programs. Central Michigan University offers a Master of Science in Administration graduate program at the Fort McPherson Education Center.

Courses are offered on Fort McPherson and Fort Gillem. Besides the in-house residence courses, you can obtain a degree through Distance Learning Colleges.
